Title: Egg Picker Upper
Post by: John W Blehm on October 26, 2023, 11:11:51 AM
Some hens, especially young ones, like to lay their eggs on the floor or ground. Often they are back in a corner and under a roost or nest box, making them more difficult to bend over and pick up. I figured there must be some kind of purchasable cup on a stick on the market and only found one thru my online searches. I bought a couple of these and used one yesterday for the first time. It is just what I needed.

39" egg scoop with blue metal handle and plastic basket. Used to making picking up floor eggs laid outside the nest easier and quicker. (https://www.hogslat.com/egg-scoop-blue-metal-handle)

An egg picker-upper is easily made with a broom handle or something similar attached to a tuna or other tin can.
