Title: Poop in the box!
Post by: Suki on April 21, 2016, 02:45:23 PM

Some of my pullets are using the nesting box as a toilet. Is this normal?  and more importantly,  how can I stop it? :'(

They may be sleeping in the nest at night. I've had some to do that. I would have to be there when they went to roost and make sure they didn't get in the nests. It took about a week to break them.

if there is adequate roosting space higher than the nest boxes, it is not normally a problem.   If that is not the case you may have to cover those next boxes at night until they get used to using the roosts.

Thanks Max & Mike.  I definitely see the problem now.
