Title: How Early Can Good Tail Structure Be Determined?
Post by: Steve Neumann on April 06, 2017, 10:35:40 AM
I am starting to notice that many of my chicks that are narrow in the rear are producing a lot of the pinched tails and tails with poor structure.  Is this something that experienced breeders cull for out of the brooder or is it unwise to assume that these birds will develop bad tails?

If the parents exhibit good tail structure, I would let them develop.   Those juvenile feathers molt out and new and additional ones grow in.

I agree with Mike.  Tails aren't as important as heads.
