Toenail Color
« on: April 28, 2016, 10:48:48 AM »
I've been getting pullets that have different colored toenails, which seems to be strongly hereditary, and today Holly Frosch posted this:  http://ps.oxfordjournals.org/content/51/1/332.abstract which got me to thinking.  Is this common amongst Birchen based females to get different colored toenails?

Yes, I have noticed it too.   The Standards are silent on toenail coloration for Ameraucanas, so I never saw it as a major issue.

Didn't YOU write the standard Mike?  So obviously you chose not to mention it.

Yes, but I had counseling from the late Fred Jeffrey who was Chairman of the ABA Standard Committee at the time.  He was a joy to work with.   I never thought toenail color was a major issue, still don't.
