I'll agree with Brian that the question is misleading...built on a false foundation.
When is a hen a hen?
If it is a "hen", it is a hen.
A female chicken is a hen (H) when she is a year old. Before that she is a pullet (P).
The same year old time period is the only difference between a cock (C) and a cockerel (K).
