Title: Coulee Region Poultry Show/Alliance Meet
Post by: Mike Gilbert on May 29, 2021, 08:17:30 AM
Yesterday, Friday May 28th, our local club completed setting up for our 8th annual show to be held Saturday, June 5th.    We have rosette and cash awards for our Ameraucana winners to complement the club rosettes to be awarded by the Alliance.   We have 71 Ameraucanas entered, including 25 LF in 6 varieties and 46 bantams in 8 varieties.  In total we have 861 entries, including 92 in the AOCCL class.   I did not get the number in AOSB, but it was a higher number than most of the large fowl classes.  Hope to see many of you there a week from today!   If anyone plans to visit and hasn't been to our show in Galesville, Wisconsin, before let me know here if you need directions.

Do you still need masks in WI for such meets Mike?

Nope, masks are optional.   We did have a company donate 3 oz bottles of hand sanitizers, and we are giving those out to our exhibitors.   We are not doing a raffle this year because folks tend to congregate around those tables.   We will have a silent auction of poultry related items, but ask that folks be respectful of common sense distancing.   It will be hot here Saturday, so the big doors will be wide open and large barn fans will be used to keep the air flowing through.   No rain in the forecast, but 92 degrees for a high.  We do clean up the same night.

There were a lot of nice Ameraucanas shown on June 5th.  It was very hot - mid 90's - and the birds were stressed from the heat, though we did have big fans moving fresh air through the two exhibit buildings.  But it made for difficult picture taking because the birds were panting.   I did get photos of BB and RB in large fowl and bantam Ams.   Jim Fegan's black LF cock took best AOSB of show, and my Wheaten pullet took best AOCCL in a class of 92.   Bart Pals did the LF Ameraucana judging and Don Karasek judged the bantams.   Also, a trio of Wheaten bantams donated to the silent auction brought $100 for the Coulee Region Poultry Club.   A big thanks to Amy Jensen for the winning bid!
Here are the winners:   Jim's Black followed by RB LF Ameraucana, a Blue hen shown by Scott Lepak.

Here are the bantam winners.   The Gilbert Wheaten pullet (best AOCCL) and Gary Rossman's White trio pullet (RB).   I apologize for the photo of Gary's bird, but with the heat, she just would not pose.  The photo does not come close to doing her justice.
