Title: Dayton Fancy Feathers Spring show final report
Post by: Russ Blair on April 28, 2018, 08:52:17 PM
There were over 1,900 entries with 19 Large Fowl and 52 Bantams entered. I will give a detailed report tomorrow but I will say Ameraucana Alliance members took BB and RB not only in Large fowl but also Bantams. With the Large fowl moving on to Res AOSB respectfully. There were 7 or 8 exhibitors 3 of which I know are members. I still have to look up exhibitors numbers and names to get final tally. There were 6 varieties of LF and 10 Varieties of Bantams displayed so an impressive showing for a spring show. AOCCL was a really tough class with a Buckeye Hen placing Best AOCCL and a white crested polish hen placing Reserve AOCCL respectfully.

Good job Russ!    Did you happen to get any photos?   It sounds like black is becoming the most popular bantam variety, as has been the case with LF.

That was big, especially for a spring show.  Congratulations to all.
Jeff & Cheryl stopped in, Sunday afternoon, before heading back to WV to pick up some bantam buffs for Jeff's dad, Clarence.  We had a very nice visit.

Since we had a club meet the Dayton Fancy Feather Club gave an award to BB Bantam and LF Ameraucana. Here’s my plate, picture is way off but I thought it was a generous offer given from the hosting club. They put on a really nice show with single stacked cages in a spacious barn.

Again this was a very nice show and I am glad I attended it for the first time. I strongly urge all of our members to get your meet request in. Several people who bought birds from me at the show never heard of us and I was glad to point them our way. Better yet get out and try some shows you never attend, I am glad I did. Yes Mike the Blacks are being well represented, I may have to watch who I sell mine to from now on. There was a lot of birds competing against me I sold as chicks last year lol. The judge even had Jeff’s moved down right next to mine to make his final decision. Just happened at that moment his opinion favored mine by luck.

Got home today around 4pm from a great weekend , pulled up in my dads driveway got the look when I keep the car out to late the one and only time . So I jumped out of the truck pulled the old drop out pens out and showed him what John and his wife sent him , all is well.  Now  I may have acted like I picked them out! We   had a great visit also and saw  how a first class chicken operation works .
Had a great time at the show in Greenville Ohio ,we tried our best but came up a little short in large fowl and bantams but had a great time with all of our old friends and new ones!  that is what this is all about for us.
Now let me tell you Russell has met his match I will leave it at that!!
