So glad you got that dang mink!   I am hatching out as many Brown Reds as i can this season.   If you want a trio this fall or winter, let me know and i will try to get you a nice starter kit!      I will miss competing with your nice brown red birds this season.   See you in April at the DFFC.

Max these are hands down the worse predator a chicken farmer can have. This is twice now in 5 years I had them pay me a visit. They will kill everything they can get ahold of then move on to the next pen and kill all those as well. They kill just to kill and unfortunately they will keep coming back unless you eradicate them.

Finally got him, unfortunately it was at the expense of a couple more chickens. He will not be killing anymore though

Well out of 11 of the first hatch with the blue bantam cockerel over a silver pullet 10 of them express birchen like leakage. I have another 16 +/- younger ones that are also expressing birchen like leakage. So I am going to say it’s a pretty safe bet this blue cockerel is sex link silver based and ER at the E locus which is what is preferred for blues. I now have the cock (who I think is also sex link silver based) currently covering the silver pullet. Hopefully I get the same results as I have with the cockerel. I have 3 pullets from the same mating that produced the cockerel. Going forward I will breed the cockerel to my best laced hens, only keeping the pullets from that mating. If the Cock tests out to be sex link silver I will put him over the 3 pullets from him in hopes to get a better male. Now for my 4 other blue cockerels and 3 black cockerels

Thanks for your generosity Max, luckily I had my best large fowl blues already moved into my barn. I actually am getting pretty good hatches of them. Mainly it was my large fowl brown reds that got ransacked. This will be the summer of pen construction here, using 1/2" x 1/2" 16ga mesh along with the 2'x4' welded wire. I have been meaning to upgrade for a couple years and this seems to be the year I better get it done.

Thank you Mike. I know first hand how shocking and upsetting it is to lose your flock and all the hard work that's put into it. Many breeders out there refuse to share their bloodlines and therefore risk losing everything they've accomplished if something were to happen to their flocks. I'm happy to help where I can and I know the folks in this group would do the same if the opportunity arises.

On the Brown Red color changes.

It says Back: Black.  I am assuming this black is for the females and the male's Back and Saddle will be the orange wording like the head and/or hackle?  Or am I reading this incorrectly?  Just double checking 

Happy to see the female tail angle corrected.
