Some Blasts From The Past
« on: August 16, 2023, 02:16:41 PM »
Champion largefowl Ameraucana, a White pullet, at the 1995 National Meet in Alma, Michigan.   Jeannette Frank sent me a box of old photos as she is downsizing in preparation for their move to an apartment on September 1st.  This was one of what must be at least 100 photos she sent.  I'll post some others below.
We could probably use a club historian?  Just a thought.

Another photo from Jeannette.  This is John Bashaw and myself at the 1994 National Meet in Belvidere, Illinois, with our winning birds.  I shipped the Wheaten bantam cockerel to Ken Duvall in California not long afterward.

Here is a great photo of the late Bernard Conkling of Stanton, IA, with champion and reserve AOSB on blue pullets at a Missouri show in 1989.  Wish I had this photo earlier for my book.

John and Kathy Blehm along with Mary and me visited the late, great Bernard Kellogg, our club's first historian, at Bernie's home October 29, 1996.  This is just a small part of the collection Bernie had accumulated over the years.   I have one of the pieces now, a glass hen on a nest, thanks to Randy Buske who inherited the rest.   Bernard and his wife Dorothy, who preceded him in death, had no children or close relatives left.

And here is the late Koralyn Kibbee of Manhattan, Montana, with a Blue Wheaten cock at the 1995 Montana State Fair in Great Falls.   August 2nd, 1995.

This would be my Best AOCCL from the 1996 American Poultry Assn National in Hutchinson, Minnesota.  Russell Carlson judged that class of about 100 bantams.  It was a big Polish qualifying meet.

That is a wonderful idea! I think it would be nice to have a section on the Alliance website for these old photos, and maybe even some way for comments to be posted by other members who may have memories to share.
