Title: Celebrating Ameraucana in Dairyland - National Meet
Post by: Michael Muenks on May 15, 2024, 10:56:15 am
As you may be aware the Ameraucana Alliance has two national meets this year, one of which is at the Wisconsin International show September 28-29, 2024 in Portage, WI.

There are many jobs that need to be done such as taking pictures of the BV and RV, posting pictures on the forum, the meet report, calculating display points, taking notes at the club meeting, organizing the egg show, organizing a silent auction, promotion, and staffing a club table.

There are also nice to have items such as a club meal/social gathering, coloring contest, word searches, virtual auction, virtual cast of events, social media postings, raffle, Question and Answer session, a seminar on an Ameraucana topic/variety/genetics, and any other great ideas people have.

If you are interested in helping or know of someone who would be interested in helping with the national meet in Wisconsin, please let me know. Many hands make light work.

Thank you to Jeff and Jessica for being willing to help and of course to our president Russ for his guidance and support.

Thanks for the update Michael and all the information. God willing I will be attending and will gladly donate a pair or trio of  Ameraucana, most likely bantam but it’s still too early to tell. I will also help in any way you need, that my back allows me to. I am sure you will make this another epic National Meet, thank you for your service to our Alliance.

Also, if you go to the show's website  http://wisconsininternational.com/wp/  You will find a link to enter and pay online.  NPIP or test papers can either be sent via pdf file or mailed.  To me it was easier to just mail it to the show secretary along with a note as to the date I entered.

Thanks for the reminder Michael. Jeff Halbach will be judging our Bantam and Large Fowl Ameraucana, Incase anyone was wondering.

Michael do we have a list of birds donated for the silent auction by chance? I will most likely be bringing a pair of bantam splash, Incase anyone wanted a decent start in them to help with the APA recognition process.

Greetings all! I have some preliminary numbers of entries for our Celebration of Ameraucana in Dairyland. The following are not final numbers, but it looks to be a great show 122 large fowl and 234 bantam entries as of this evening, September 8, 2024. They host show expects a few more entries to arrive by mail. Ameraucana will be judged first by Jeff Halbach. Working with the show club to keep the Ameraucana not double stacked. The have a record number of entries of over 3600 birds so far.

I spoke with the WIPC show secretary via phone this evening.  Open entries are 84 large fowl and 178 bantams.   This show always has a huge junior show, so lots of LF and bantam Ameraucana will be shown in that portion of the show as well.

If anyone is willing to volunteer some time for club activities for Celebrating Ameraucana in Dairyland next week in Portage we could use some help with the following:

Logging Egg Show Entries in the morning
Staffing the club table (answers questions and sells a few things)
Filling out the meet report
Judging the bantam eggs
Judging the large fowl eggs
Taking pictures of the BV and RV and posting to forum
Silent auction

Thanks to those that have volunteered to help! If you can help and have a favorite item please sent an email to Michael_Muenks@yahoo.com.

Don't forget to start saving those beautiful eggs for the egg show! If your birds are like mine . . . it may be a challenge to get six.

I will be happy to take pictures of BV and RV.   It might be best to have two or more do this to ensure we get the best possible photos.  It takes a lot of time sometimes to get the birds to pose correctly, and I will also be working on the display computations so my time after the judging may be a bit limited.

A reminder that anyone can enter eggs into the Ameraucana Alliance eggs show. Here is how it works . . .

Two classes are provided: Bantam and Large Fowl Ameraucana Eggs.
Exhibitors may enter up to three entries in each class.
Ameraucana eggs only, from Ameraucana Alliance members only.

No entry fee!

Awards will be given for the “Best” and “Reserve” Bantam and Large Fowl eggs.
Entries will consist of six eggs presented in an egg carton, without labels or markings identifying
the exhibitor. The eggs should be uniform in, size, shape, etc., with all six being either Bantam
Hen eggs, Bantam Pullet eggs, Large Fowl Hen eggs or Large Fowl Pullet eggs.

An Ameraucana Egg Contest Exhibitor’s List will be maintained and shall not be viewed by the
judge. An assistant or the exhibitor will fill in the required information for each entry and write
the Entry Number and “B” for Bantam “LF” for Large Fowl, “H” for Hen eggs & “P” for Pullet
eggs on the egg carton. A separate “Judging Form” will be needed for each entry.

All entries become the property of the Ameraucana Alliance at the time of entry.

Two out of each entry of six eggs will be opened by the judge or the clerk to facilitate the
judging of interior qualities and coloring.

Each class will be judged to third place.

No unsolicited remarks by any exhibitor may be made within hearing of the judge during the
judging process. Violations will result in automatic disqualification of all entries of the
violator(s).
