The Oklahoma State Poultry Federation hosted the 151st APA National this past weekend, Dec 14-15, 2024
It was also the cumulation of many years dedicated to the creation (Michael Muenks, John Blehm) breeding, exhibiting and promoting the Self Blue (Lavender) bantams across the US. The final Acceptance Meet was a resounding success, with the unanimous vote to accept the Self Blue Ameraucana bantam into the Standard. Now the Self Blue bantam is recognized by both the APA and ABA.
Congratulations to everyone

Congratulations to all involved for this accomplishment!
One of our first Ameraucanas was a little Self-Blue bantam named Mister. My kids loved that little guy! ❤️

Thank You to all who have been involved with this effort over the 5 plus years and beyond to the creation of the variety as well. It has been a long road. Some who have encouraged and bred the bantams are no longer here and or no longer show poultry. It was great to meet a good number of you through this effort. The last meet was this past week in Shawnee Oklahoma. We knew this location would present challenges for some of the breeders on the East Coast. Thankfully a group local to the show rallied, raised, entered and showed birds also. It was a great location and we were able to meet a number of SB/lav breeders in the area. Debbie Hogan and Aaron Hickson have been involved from the beginning among those we met and visited at this show.
So what is our next challenge? Who is raising Splash Bantams and willing to help in the effort for this variety to be accepted by the APA?
