Title: 2026 Northern National Meet
Post by: Mike Gilbert on January 28, 2026, 12:36:39 PM
Our National Meet to be held in Hutchinson, Minnesota, this October will have a bird and other Ameraucana related silent auction.   I will be donating an original charcoal drawing I had commissioned in about 1980 or so.  It has been hanging in my downstairs hallway ever since.   It's matted and framed, with outside dimensions of 29 1/2 inches wide by 22 inches tall.   It was done by a local artist who resided in the county just south of mine based on written descriptions I had provided.  The artist's name was Rikki Barnes.  Obviously, it reflects the artist's conception and does not represent accurately what is being bred today.  Nevertheless, I consider it to be a collector's item that will only grow in value as time passes.  The photo below does not do it justice, and the lamp at lower left is just a reflection.

Beautiful Piece Mike, my sister is an artist, and I really appreciate the work that goes into pieces like this.   Thanks for sharing.

That is a very generous donation, Mike. Someone will be honored to win that historic piece of artwork.

Here is a link to the Minnesota State Poultry Assn show.   What is listed currently is for last year's show, but it has some good information for planning purposes, such as motel reservations and show location.  Also, we have been informed of the judges for the 2026 show, and our Board of Directors will select one for our Northern National Meet.   The choices are:   Jonathan Patterson, Zeb skow, Cody Haefs, and Brett Kriefels.   If you plan to show and have a preference, contact Russ Blair or any of the Directors and let them know who you would like to have judge.    Also, if you expect to have a donation for our silent auction, please contact me, Ann, or Rachel to let us know so we can plan for the proper number of cage holes for the birds and space for any other items.   Here is that link:   https://www.poultryshowcentral.com/Minnesota_State_Poultry_Association.html    Oh, I plan to donate a pair or trio of White Ameraucana bantams for the silent auction in addition to the framed charcoal drawing shown earlier in this thread.
