I'm leaning toward the Holiday Inn this year.

Me too.  There was no elevator to the 2nd floor at the Comfort Inn and without a 1st floor room the stairs are rough on some.

That was  my chief complaint, especially trying to drag bags up the steps. I can't recall ever staying at a motel before with no elevator.

I am good where ever. But I am extremely stoked and can not contain it. Heed my warning now, I should have several nice birds in various varieties. I believe I even got some Large Fowl hatched out in time. No matter what though, win lose or draw. I can guarantee this show will be epic  ;)

I'm leaning toward the Holiday Inn this year.

Kathy is looking into getting a block of 10 rooms to get the best rate.  Please let me know if you are interested.  It was a couple months since I checked, but I think the rooms were about $133/night and about $125/night with a block of ten rooms.

Hey John - I made reservations at The Comfort Inn - about ~$90/night.  But I certainly could be persuaded to cancel those and go in with the rest of the gang so you can count me in for one of the rooms.  Ask Kathy to negotiate hard!!  Haha.  She is great - I know she will get us a great deal.  😄

It doesn't get any easier than that.  I just write my 5 digit flock ID # (34-208) on the entry from.

John, So they check them in by a vet and no papers necessary.  I have not been NPIP since I believe the 1970's or 1980's.  I do take blood samples for a Equal to NPIP tests.

That should be all you need.  Last year they didn't require to see the papers, but asked that you have them in case requested.  As I mentioned I just put my number the entry form, but you could just include a copy of your test papers with the form when you send it in.
If in doubt, ask the Doug.  He is one of the guys in charge of the show and his contact info is in the first post of this topic.

Let's wait and see the best price Kathy can come up with.  We'll probably reserve a block of 10 rooms for the first 10 club members with each paying for their rooms individually.

After searching online sites for the best hotel deals and calling the top two hotels we weren't able to come up with any great deals, so please book your rooms where you want.

The Holiday Inn Express told Kathy that their breakfast room was open (no door) and wouldn't work for our Saturday meal and meeting.  They also said their meeting room would be too small for our group.

update...she just talked to Jash @ Comfort Inn and prices are much higher than last year.  The nonrefundable rate is about $96+/night and refundable is about $120+/night for a room with 2 queen beds, but it is $109+/night if you mention my name.

We are all set to have our pizza and club meeting, on Saturday, from 5 till 8pm, in the breakfast room, at the Comfort Inn, like last year.
We had a Q&A session in the corner of the Jr show building last year, but that was too noisy.  It would be nice to set aside an hour for it again this year, if we can find a better building/room.

Just a reminder that Chantecler Fanciers is also holding our USA National Meet at this show, and we will also need an hour for a meeting.   Some Ameraucana Alliance members are also CFI members, and as secretary of CFI I will have to give that organization precedence if there is a time conflict.

The CFI members could also use my name to get the $109 room rate at the Comfort Inn.  Last year Doug and Ron suggested the corner in the jr show building for our Q&A session.  If you find a better place for your club meeting at the fairgrounds let me know and maybe we'll schedule our Q&A session there before or after your meeting.

The board of directors has agreed to put up $1,390 in cash awards for our 2016 Ameraucana National Meet, plus $200 in ribbons & rosettes in junior competition.  This is on top of any awards offered by our members, bringing the total to over $1,900 as of today!
The hosting show club will give us $200 again for entering 100 or more birds.  That will be designated toward rosettes and ribbons in Jr competition.  Every kid entering an Ameraucana will be offered a yellow exhibitor ribbon or higher award(s) for certain wins.
There is already $320 in cash awards this year from members (Royce Van Blaricome, Russ Blair, Robert Rennolet & Mike Gilbert), some of which was unclaimed last year due to varieties not shown.  Please feel free to contact me with any more donations, whether designated for specific wins or to be used as per consensus of the club board.  It would be nice to have $20 for Jr BB LF, since we already have $20 for Jr BB bantam and $10 for RB wins.
•        Only Ameraucana Alliance Members, with paid memberships before judging begins, are eligible for these Open Show awards from our club & it’s members.
•        Some members prefer cash and some prefer trophies of some sort.  Open show winners have the choice of either cash or non-cash for club sponsored awards.  Dollar amounts are associated with each win and each winner may decide whether to receive the cash or a non-cash (hardware) award, such as a plaque, rosette, coaster, etc. of fairly equal value with shipping figured in.  This gives winners the option and by having non-cash awards made after the meet the winner’s name can be included in custom designed awards.
•        Both member and Non-member junior competition winners are eligible for Rosettes and Ribbons offered by the Ameraucana Alliance.
•        Eggs entered into the egg judging contest become the property of the Ameraucana Alliance

And today my buddy Duane Schroeder donated $50 and said...

Just filled out my entry form, nothing like waiting to the last minute  :o. Not sure what shape they will be in I have been extremely busy. So they have not received the attention they normally would. Somehow I managed to enter 21 so hopefully the bathing process brings out there best lol. Remember folks entries need to be post marked by tomorrow. Hope to see some new, and looking forward to seeing the old faces (meaning previously met, not age). Hope for good weather and safe travels to all.

We'll have a pizza & subs dinner in the breakfast room at the Comfort Inn on Saturday, starting at 6pm, immediately followed by our annual club meeting at 7pm.  Let Michael know of anything you think should be added under "new business" to our meeting agenda.  Last year we had to be out of the meeting room and have it cleaned up by 8pm, but I believe they will be more lax this year with an end time.  The hotel will provide free coffee and we'll have bottled water available, but please feel free to bring your own non alcoholic (hotel rule) drinks.
There will be a variety of pizza & subs to choose from, buffet style, with a suggested price of $10 per person 12 and over and $5 for kids under 12.  Please pay there.  If there is any leftover money it will go to the club.  We need to know how many are coming so enough food is purchased, so please post here or email me with your reservations by Thursday, the 13th or see me at the show by noon, Saturday the 15th...at the latest, so orders can be placed.
Chantecler Fanciers International is also holding their national meet in Lebanon and our clubs share several of the same members, so they are also invited to join us for pizza & subs.  If the meeting room gets a bit too crowded there may be overflow areas into our hotel rooms as needed.
Some of us will also get together Friday evening at 6pm for supper at Parky's Smokehouse (http://www.parkyssmokehouse.com/Parkys/Parkys_Smokehouse_-_Indianapolis_Restaurant.html).  Please post here or email me with your reservations by Thursday, the 13th.

I made a few mistakes on the awards list that was in the newsletter and below is a corrected copy.  These are HUGE amounts of cash and with the donations from members it all adds up to well over 2 grand in awards being offered!
Duane Schroeder made a donation that I mistakenly credited to an other member and that is now correct also.
