Back in the day, when we were ABC, there was a page of day old chicks that would tell me about the penguins being better than the All-Blacks and why. That is no longer on that venerable site, but to be honest so much else is gone from there since we left that I cannot say I am surprised, But the real problem is that we do not have it either. I think we need it back, as I got a penguin and an All-Black and what is diff colorwise?
Thanks Sue. ???

It is one of those many things I have thought about, but I haven't gotten around to yet.

Generally speaking the penquin chicks turn out to be the better colored blacks. The solid black ones often end up with color leaks, especially the males. For example, my large fowl brown reds often hatch out all black (and sometimes not), and they all end up as brown reds.

Pity.
Thanks Mike for the help. That's what I thought but I wasn't sure.

Well to get you started....here's a silver day old chick. More than that, I do not know.

The penguin.

And here's the All Black. I guess he's not extended.

There was a topic start a while ago on E vs ER chick phenotype also.

Hi Lee, Nice set of shots there. You've been very busy :D Do you have lavenders too?
-
I have some photos of my lavender bantam chicks, if you are interested.

:) Thanks! Tis full blown hatching season on our farm, and one of my favourite times of the year. (No more snow, yay! lol) Also, a very special thanks to the two lovely ladies on the FB genetics site who helped me figure out what I was looking at. (Although we're still guesstimating some of it.)
No lavenders here. I've my hands full with blue and silver, black and splash. Often times I wish I could just narrow it down to one variety, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Truthfully, I'd like to have all the varieties, but I also enjoy being married, so...lol
Please do post your pictures Shari. :) I don't think chick pics ever get old, and are great learning tools besides.
