Title: Missouri State Poultry Show - Double Meet - 10-22-16
Post by: Michael Muenks on October 24, 2016, 11:52:34 AM
I stopped by the Missouri State Poultry Show on Saturday. They were hosting the Cochin National Meet. Just a few Ameraucana large fowl and bantams in the show. They were moving through the judging and were already on the second show judging when I left at noon. I have never seen large fowl Naked Necks take a class and a massive pullet took the class.

Michael, I'm betting the large Naked Necks belonged to Brian Gates.   I have seen his blacks before.    I also attended a poultry show last weekend, the Minnesota State Poultry Assn at Hutchinson, MN.   I had the only two Ameraucana bantams shown, and there were only two large fowl, both in the junior show by the Thompson family.   It was the National Meet of the Cornish Breeders, but a bantam Partridge Chantecler pullet was awarded reserve AOCCL.

Cornish almost always take the class here in Missouri. I like it when something else does.

At the risk of being banned for life here, this is the Reserve AOCCL.  Click on photo to see penciling.  She was also BV at the Chantecler National in Indiana on October 15th.

The trick with the female partridge pattern is to retain the solid black in the main tail feathers, except the top two.  And on a harder feathered breed in bantams to get the triple penciling.  This one has just two concentric pencilings on most of her feathers, but three on some.  Thanks for the kind words!
