In my area, Cesar, the locals are actually chains and have no control where their chicks come from.  For example, in PA, Tractor Supply, gets their chicks mainly from Mt Healthy http://www.mthealthy.com/, because they have a big hatchery in state and transport is far less.  Agway, the only other supplier of retail chicks get them from the MidWest -- Iowa --  and I must admit their chicks are always in poor health.  I think that's wholly attributed to travel time and weather.  I don't know of other feed stores that sell chicks here.  I guess out in AZ, retail chicks are more plentiful.

We have tractor supply as well. They order their chicks from Privett

They do have control, they can pick other suppliers. Thats why I want to contact the retailers and make a big fuss over it. IF a little girl can change the way Targets does business with a photo and tweet. Perhaps we can change these big retailers with social media pressure and so forth.
