2026 Fall Newsletter

I just want to let everyone know that I just sent out the Fall Newsletter. I apologize for the delay but there was a lot of important information I needed to include. As well as some last-minute new members joining us, welcome to our Ameraucana Alliance. I will be dropping off the hard copies and needed Handbooks at the post office this morning. My wife and I are packed up and getting ready to head to North Dakota for my niece's wedding. I hope to make a few stops to visit some dear friends along the way, so stay tuned for some photos.  Thanks for allowing me to serve, and for all your patience during these hectic times.

First Stop on our trip to North Dakota. Mary and Mike Gilbert graciously hosted us for an overnight stay to help break up the 14hr drive. Mary made a lasagna and chocolate cake so we had a dinner when we arrived. Mary also made a delicious coffee cake, and Mike had a watermelon from his garden cut up for a nice little breakfast treat. I think I may need to try and grow a Charleston grey next year.

Unfortunately we ran into a bunch of traffic, Labor Day weekend, so our 8hr trip to their house ended up being a 10.5 hr trip. But we made it safely and spent the evening and morning visiting. Mike also gave Robert, my youngest son who took this picture, and myself a tour on his UTV. We saw a grouse and a doe deer bedding down on Mikes little slice of heaven on earth. Folks, making friendships like this is what exhibiting poultry is all about. Some people think it's about winning a plaque or ribbon, the fellowshipping and friendship are the awards that really matter.

We were more than happy to have you, Nicole, and Robert visit, even if just for overnight and the morning.  We will do it again before and after the national meet in Minnesota this year.  Let me know if you want seed from the watermelon, and I'll save you some.
