Newbie Wheaten chick question?

Previous topic - Next topic

Russ Blair

Being new to the Wheaten and Blue Wheaten variety, in Bantams. I was just wondering about this chick that hatched. I have noticed a lot of them with a spot on there head, but this one has a lot of color and almost stripes like a silver chick would have. Would this be something to cull, or am I jumping the gun. I dont have enough experience in them yet and am looking for guidance.

That, I believe, is the kind that end up with the most female tail and wing coloration.   The late judge John Wunderlich sent me a setting of eggs from his Wheaten Old English (many years ago), and the chicks came out colored like yours.   Of the three cockerels I grew out from that hatch, all had nice clean hackles.
