Breeding / Re: Improving LF buff Amerauca...

I'm posting underneath of this thread as a 2026 update, Anyone else still working on Large Fowl Buffs?   Combs on cockerels are tighter this year but not tight enough and fighting extra soft feathering especially on the bottom line will continue to be an issue.   One day at a time!

Thank you Mike!  That makes completely makes sense and I have the space to accommodate such.   I would be very interested in purchasing some of your extra whites and June would be perfect.  The show you mentioned is only 3.5 hours from us, so we could and would absolutely make the drive.

Chelsee, if you are going to start a breeding program, let me make a suggestion.  You should start with at least two pair.   That way, if they are all fertile and the females lay eggs, you can produce four pair matings instead of just one.   Right now it looks like I will probably have some extra well started White bantams in the spring.   They are from Jerry DeSmidt's line.  We have a local show the first Saturday of June, and that would be a great time to pick some up.  We will have an Alliance Meet.    I'm located in West Central Wisconsin, and the show is just 13 miles from our place.

Ameraucana Marketplace / ISO: Pair or Trio Bantam Black...
Last post by Chelsee Worrell - February 01, 2026, 12:23:09 PM
In search of a pair or trio of bantam white, black, or wheaten ameraucanas to use to start my own breeding program. Would love to be able to show them in a couple 4H shows as well, but my main goal/purpose is to have them become the base of a breeding program for my future poultry 4H projects.   I have been showing poultry for 7 years and  I am very experienced with keeping/ raising/showing poultry.  I have had Ameraucanas in the past (still do, just not the right pairings) but was not ready to tackle breeding/hatching on my own and am now ready to take the next steps. Located in Iowa but willing to travel to surrounding states for pickup.  Thank you in advance for any and all information.

That is a very generous donation, Mike. Someone will be honored to win that historic piece of artwork.

Exhibiting, Promoting & Club Notes / 2026 Northern National Meet
Last post by Mike Gilbert - January 28, 2026, 12:36:39 PM
Our National Meet to be held in Hutchinson, Minnesota, this October will have a bird and other Ameraucana related silent auction.   I will be donating an original charcoal drawing I had commissioned in about 1980 or so.  It has been hanging in my downstairs hallway ever since.   It's matted and framed, with outside dimensions of 29 1/2 inches wide by 22 inches tall.   It was done by a local artist who resided in the county just south of mine based on written descriptions I had provided.  The artist's name was Rikki Barnes.  Obviously, it reflects the artist's conception and does not represent accurately what is being bred today.  Nevertheless, I consider it to be a collector's item that will only grow in value as time passes.  The photo below does not do it justice, and the lamp at lower left is just a reflection.
