Best of Breed Bantam and Champion Over All was this White trio pullet by Mike Gilbert.   Reserve White was a pullet by Bob Walchak, the 3rd photo.  Clicking on the photos will enlarge them for a better view.    Thanks to Zach W. for sending me a better photo of the winner.

Best Buff bantam and Reserve Champion Ameraucana Bantam was a Buff pullet by Bob Walchak.  Reserve Buff was a cockerel by Bob Walchak.  This was probably the best class of Buff bantams I have seen yet, and I believe they all came from the Blehm line of Buffs.

Gary Rossman sent me these photos today, October 6th, since I failed to get any at the national meet.   The first bird is the BV bantam Blue, and note the excellent lacing even in the wing bay.   The second photo is the RV bantam Blue.   These two were as good as any male bantams in the show both type-wise and color wise in my opinion.

Top Wheaten was a pullet by Jeff and Jacob Sonsalla, and Reserve bantam Wheaten was a cockerel by Bob Walchak.   I could not get the cockerel to face the camera, but the photo does show his great color.

The Blue Wheaten bantam class was won by Russ Blair on a hen and a pullet.   The tail color on females and the hackle color on males have both improved immensely over the past few years - both Blue Wheatens and Wheatens.   These are now two very tough classes to win in.

The Bantam Silvers were won by Bob Walchak, with the BV pullet taking the 40th Anniversary plaque for best parti-color bantam.

Hi mike,  Your splash wheaten has a better i.e. fuller tail than mine.  Where did you get yours from?

Raised him from birds that I owned.  He is the only Splash I kept this year.  He is for sale.   ;) ;D

Mine is from Neil and Donna Townsend that I picked up from the Natl last year when he was just a few months old.   I am going to Birch Run in November so if he is still around maybe I'l bite but I don't have a hen, any recommendations there colourwise?

thanks Sue

Sue, it depends on what you want to produce.  If you want more splash, breed him to another splash for 100% splash, or a blue wheaten will give you about half of each.   If you want all blue wheatens, breed him to a wheaten.   You can't produce any wheatens out of splash in the first generation.   But I won't be going to Birch Run this year.  I could check to see who I know who might take him though if you want.

I don't have any of those either, so perhaps I'll use a bantam buff and work it back from there. So I'll pass in the meantime.
