12 hole bantam breeding coops
« on: April 06, 2019, 06:49:54 PM »
These two units are available for $120 each ($10/hole) to any Alliance member that will pick one or both up at my place in Michigan.  I built them a few years ago and the floors are treated plywood.  LED lights and coop cups are included.  Please email me if interested.

I imagine it could be used for either grit or oyster shell.  Sometimes I mix mine.

You have a good imagination...oyster shells.  It was generally just a free choice offering, but this breeding season I fed 28% pheasant chick starter to my breeders, which doesn't have as much calcium as a ration should for layers so I also occasionally top dresses the feed with oyster shells.

Good looking setup for pair matings.   Are they easy to clean out?   Are you keeping any of these for your own use?

These are great, especially for pair matings with the girls on the top row and the boys on the bottom with visiting privileges twice a week.  They are very easy to clean using a flat feed scoop and putting the soiled wood shavings into a 5 gallon pail to spread around trees and shrubs.  I generally have a grandkid clean them once a week, but sometimes go two weeks and just spread some clean wood shavings on top.  Some hens are messy though and like to play in the water cups, getting the shavings wet but others are clean freaks.
I'll only keep one 6 hole unit that is attached to the wall in the chicken barn.
