First Hatch of the year
« on: April 02, 2023, 09:34:05 AM »
Finally got a start with chicks this year.  Jim Laatsch was kind enough to incubate our eggs while we were gone on vacation.  Picked up 115 chicks yesterday, including these 21 Silver bantams.   Also got about 10 Wheaten bantams and 5 Brown Red bantams among others.  They are a lively bunch.  It seemed like a strange winter, as we usually start with chicks in January.

Actually, some of them are looking much better than I have raised in the past - talking about the Silver bantams.   Some of you may know I embarked on a program that will improve the stippling and reduce the shafting in the bantam Silver females.   Someday I will disclose how it was done.
