New Club Policy
« on: March 16, 2025, 07:51:24 pm »
Good evening, everyone I would like to announce that the current board of directors have voted and approved a new Ameraucana Alliance policy. I am attaching a PDF fie of the "new variety petition policy" as well as posting what it says below. Thanks for reading this.

Ameraucana Alliance New Variety Petition Policy
This Policy was voted and passed by the Board of Directors of the Ameraucana Alliance for the purpose of giving any dues paying member and/or group of breeders of the Ameraucana Alliance written guidelines and expectations by which to follow when requesting the board of directors to petition for a new variety’s recognition into either the American Bantam Association (ABA) or the American Poultry Association (APA). The current guidelines contained in our Constitution and By-Laws will be used to settle all disputes, make modifications to this policy, or for needed reference as the board of directors see fit. Any issue requiring the President to call for a vote by the board of directors will be decided by a majority vote from all the current directors.
A request to petition for a new variety’s acceptance must be made to the current elected President of the Ameraucana Alliance through an email. Who will forward it to the board of directors as soon as they can meet the specific requirements outlined per the ABA and/or APA guidelines, with a minimum of five breeders being preferred. This will include, but is not limited to:
• A proposed name for the variety
• Any needed affidavits, with the required signatures
• The proposed standard description of color, with the proper paperwork releasing the copy rights for the color description submitted.
These must be written in the proper standard format.
• A request or statement for any needed funds to help pay for the filing fees, or include a check to cover them.
• A brief description containing the history of the variety.

Once the President receives the necessary paperwork, they will forward the group’s petition to the board of directors for discussion prior to a vote to accept or decline the petition. The board of directors reserves the right to accept and/or make suggestions pertaining to the description, name, color or weight as they feel necessary. If the petition is declined the board must submit in writing their reason for the decline and allow the member and/or group of members the opportunity to correct the issues outlined in that reason and resubmit their request. If the petition is accepted, the President of the Ameraucana Alliance will then form a subcommittee consisting of the member and the group of breeders filing the petition. The Subcommittee members shall elect a chairman who shall appoint a secretary. The Chairman of the subcommittee will be responsible for:
• All communications between the board of directors and the subcommittee members. This will also include being in all corresponding emails concerning the petition, with the appropriate association, throughout this process.
• Be involved in making any changes to the variety’s descriptions or documents at the subcommittee level.
• Planning and promoting the prequalifying and qualifying meets.
• Getting the subcommittee’s group conscience in any and all areas needed throughout the recognition process, including adding or removing any members of this subcommittee.
• Responsible for getting the needed forms filled out at qualifying meets, or appointing a subcommittee member if they cannot make the meet.
• Relaying any and all needed information to the President of the Ameraucana Alliance, the board of directors, and our dues paying membership as needed throughout this process.

The Secretary of the subcommittee will be responsible of preserving a list of not only the members signing the needed affidavit’s but also of all the breeders and exhibitors involved throughout the multi-year process for historical purposes. This should include pre qualifying & qualifying meet attendance, including documenting the number of birds exhibited. A copy of all information should be shared with the president and the board of directors who will ensure it is well documented and preserved for historical purposes. If the Chairman should need to resign from the subcommittee, for any reason and at any time throughout this process, the remaining subcommittee members will nominate and vote for one member to assume the role and duties of acting chairman of the subcommittee. Any complaints or grievances must be submitted to the President of the Ameraucana Alliance by email, who will forward them to the board of directors and the chairman of the subcommittee for a discussion and vote if and when needed to settle any differences or concerns.
