Weird Eye??

Has anybody seen this before? Is it hereditary?

Jensen Pierson

Some of mine have this too. It's just some discoloration in the iris. As far as hereditary I am not sure. I would just be sure to breed him with a hen that has bright reddish bay eyes. That's at least my strategy

If it is a black LF, also check out a couple old topics that also mention it...

Black LF have had eye color/shape problems since the beginning and it may have come from the Australorps I used to originally create them.  At first glace some breeders may mistake it for Ocular Marek's.  In past discussions we pretty much agreed this is a genetic problem, as opposed to disease/sickness, and probably doesn't affect eyesight.  Breed from the best year after year.
